Who We Are

Women in Modern Agriculture (WIMA) is an independent Kenyan Community-Based Organization (CBO) established in 2010 to promote sustainable development through women’s empowerment, youth engagement, inclusion of persons with disabilities, and support for orphans and vulnerable families.

Registered under the Ministry of Labour, Social Security, and Services and headquartered in Rarieda Sub-County, Siaya County, WIMA champions community-driven solutions that advance modern agriculture, health, education, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability

Our mission is to unlock the potential, dignity, and resilience of rural communities — empowering women, youth, persons with disabilities, orphans, and vulnerable families to thrive through modern agriculture, education, health, and environmental sustainability.

Our Journey

From humble beginnings — a small volunteer team operating from a single office — WIMA has grown into a strong institution with professional staff, community field agents, and diverse programs in agriculture, health, education, and child protection. Our journey reflects the spirit of partnership, innovation, and community ownership that continues to guide us today.
